Borja Vilallonga (Llagostera, Spain, 1985) is a historian of modern Europe, specializing in modern religion and nationalism, 19th century Latin Europe, and intellectual history. He studied history at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has two doctorates in history from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2011). He has worked with several leading scholars, like Ricardo García Cárcel, Christophe Prochasson, Samuel Moyn, Massimo Miglio and Jordi Canal. He is currently working in the way in which Catholicism created its own path towards Modernity in nineteenth-century Latin European countries. He is associate research fellow at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. He has been research fellow at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and visiting scholar at the Istituto Storico Italiano per il Medio Evo and at Columbia University.
